About Liz

Elizabeth Jordan has worked as an activist, artist, and community educator throughout her life.  Liz holds a BA in Art History and Political Science from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky where she was a Dean's List student and member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.  After leaving a soul-crushing job in the legal profession, she decided to refocus her purpose and attention to helping others.  After volunteering with and receiving teacher training from Reading Partners, a California based literacy non-profit active in schools across the United States, Liz realized her passion for working with English as a Second Language (ESL) and dyslexic students.  She has been tutoring professionally since 2012 and has had success with students at the elementary, post-graduate, and corporate level.   She continues her education and community outreach by working for and attending trainings presented by local Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) non-profits with an artistic focus.

Art and creativity have been a part of Liz's life since childhood.  Her teaching career began as a dance instructor and choreographer at the early age of 16.

During college, she continued her Arts & Sciences education with a focus on visual arts, history, public policy, communication, and writing.

Liz enjoyed volunteering for health-sector non-profits in her community and working in arts-based non-profits, museums, and galleries as she completed her degree. She served on the Kentucky Board of Certification for Art Therapists as she continued involvement in organizations devoted to supporting patients with chronic illness and disabilities.

In 2012, Liz helped establish and served on the board of a health sector non-profit supporting young women will chronic illness and disabilities called Girls with Guts. She enjoyed working with renowned medical institutions including The Cleveland Clinic and Vanderbilt University. Here, Liz found her niche in patient advocacy, research, outreach, and education.  This experience has been instrumental in allowing Liz to provide support to her dyslexic and ADD/ADHD students who often require 504-accommodations and additional interventions and therapies.

Liz's students enjoy her outgoing and funny personality combined with a disciplined approach to learning. Lessons are tailored to each student's needs, interests, and learning style. Students report feeling more confident after only a few sessions. All of Liz’s current and former students met or surpassed their learning goals and reported a fun and effective tutoring experience.

Liz utilizes the power of art and creativity alongside traditional and modern learning modalities.  She is passionate about the healing and practical effects of personalized instruction.  She's seen first hand, the ability of art to heal, inspire, and transform students of all ages, including those who may be struggling with physical and emotional challenges.

Liz continues to expand her education and therapeutic offerings via dynamic mindfulness training with the Niroga Institute, a science-based curriculum that helps students manage stress and improve focus.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Liz went west in 2008 to find love and adventure.  After two years in Oregon, she moved to Dallas with her husband and mini dachshund, Eleanor Wiener.  Ellie is the star of a series of children's books Liz created to inspire language, geography, and cultural learning for kids.  Ellie also has plans to star in her own comic book series, "Eleanor Wiener: World Spy" which is under top-secret production.

Liz loves to paint, travel, write, make original jewelry, swim, dance, and read. In terms of favorite things, libraries are right up there with chocolate and wiener dogs.  She's currently learning French, enjoys studying physics, and supporting the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and mindfulness movements in her local community.

Liz also really loves her job, meeting new people, and positively affecting her students' lives.
